THE STORY BEHIND NECTAR

Nectar founders Andrea and Satjeet’s journey in India unexpectedly led them off course but became a crucial detour, guiding them to where they are today. Immersing themselves in an ashram, they studied Raja Yoga, gained a deeper appreciation for the natural world, and connected with their bodies’ inner rhythms. Inspired, they envisioned a haven back home in Canada that honours nature, seasonal living, and movement practices; an uncomplicated yet vibrant experience that nourishes body and regenerates spirit.

Returning to British Columbia in 2014, Andrea and Satjeet found Bowen Island's pull irresistible, giving birth to Nectar Retreat Centre. Starting as a small boutique overnight stay, it expanded, leading them to build Nectar 2.0 in an expansive forested location with more space to welcome guests. They feel fortunate to have found their path, surrounded by supportive souls walking alongside them.

With a focus on sourcing products from local communities in Bowen Island, British Columbia, and across Canada, Nectar Goods not only provides quality goods but also strives to support regional economies and reduce its carbon footprint. We value our connections with local independent businesses, actively engaging with customers, addressing their needs, and contributing to the resilience of a thriving, local market, especially in the face of challenges posed by larger corporations.

NECTAR GIVES BACK

Nectar's mission is deeply rooted in a commitment to social responsibility and sustainability. Acknowledging the privilege of making a positive impact, the retreat centre actively seeks meaningful ways to give back to Bowen Island and the broader community. Ongoing initiatives encompass the Accessible Pricing Initiative, featuring a 'Pay What You Can' Program, as well as a Work Trade program and charitable contributions. In late 2023, Nectar took a significant step by pledging and applying for certification as a 1% For The Planet, with the aim of furthering their commitment to environmental stewardship.
